The ROCS Difference
In a conventional workers’ compensation claims scenario, claims are reported directly to the insurance company. Most brokers become aware of potential problems at the next claim review, which could be 90-120 days after the claim has occurred.
In contrast, ROCS has immediate knowledge of every claim. We make contact with your employee, field supervisor, the adjuster, and medical provider. ROCS has more touches on a claim in the first 48 hours, when response is critical, than most brokers provide during the course of an entire year.
Through early intervention and constructive engagement, the ROCS approach results in better managed medical care, quicker return-to-work, more satisfied and productive employees, and reduced litigation costs / conflict.
Aggressive Management of Prior Open Claims
ROCS recognizes that a systematic review and a detailed action plan are instrumental in resolving open claims from prior policy periods. These claims have a degree of severity that requires aggressive management and technical skills. ROCS professionals have the talent, technical knowledge, and diverse industry experience needed to drive the claims to resolution.
Actual Client Results
This chart illustrates our client’s reduction in workers’ compensation claims costs after we implemented ROCS. One strategy we utilized was careful review and replacement of approved medical provider lists to those more receptive to modified duty work. Net savings in claims costs over a 24 month period was $1,200,000. Savings have since leveled but continue to trend favorably.

The direct cost of Workers’ Compensation is the insurance premium; however in many cases, the premium only represents 20- 30 % of the total cost due to the indirect cost associated with injury expenses.
Indirect costs, including overtime, temporary labor, increased training, supervisor time, production delays, unhappy customers, increased stress, and property or equipment damage represent several times the direct cost of the injury. A 2002 Safety Index report by Liberty Mutual tallied the direct cost of workplace injuries at $40.1 billion. The total financial impact of both direct and indirect costs was estimated to be as much as $240 billion.
