Rutherfoord Awards Alex Subacz Memorial Scholarship
Roanoke, Va. - (June 14, 2011) Rutherfoord, one of the nation’s most respected risk management and insurance brokerage firms, announces Lincoln Evans as the 2011 recipient of the Alex Subacz Memorial Scholarship of $3,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year. Lincoln, the son of Rebecca Evans, is a June graduate of Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. He will attend Lynchburg College in the fall of 2011 and plans to major in business and participate on the baseball team.
While in high school, Lincoln was active in extracurricular and leadership activities and excelled academically. He has been a longtime member of the National Honor Society, the junior varsity and varsity baseball teams, and he will graduate in the top 20% of his class.
Rutherfoord awards the scholarship annually to the child or dependent of a Rutherfoord employee who is pursuing a two- or four-year degree at an accredited institution. The recipient is selected by an independent panel of Rutherfoord business associates who evaluate the candidates in the areas of academic performance, employment experience, extracurricular and leadership activities and financial need.
Lincoln’s mother, Rebecca Evans is an associate vice president, office manager in the firm’s Roanoke office. The scholarship was established in memory of Marie Subacz’s son Alex. Marie is a senior vice president and client executive in the Alexandria office who has been with Rutherfoord for over 30 years
