Rutherfoord Welcomes Interns for 2011 Program
Structured Curriculum is Popular with Universities

Roanoke, Va. - (June 6, 2011) Rutherfoord, one of the nation’s most respected risk management and insurance brokerage firms, has launched its 2011 Internship Program  with six interns placed among  the Atlanta, Hampton Roads, Richmond and Roanoke locations. 

The eight week program introduces college students to the risk management and insurance industry through structured learning opportunities, projects, and client services work.  The interns are typically juniors or seniors with majors in risk management, insurance, or finance.

Each intern has a mentor who guides them throughout the program.  The curriculum includes interactive education programs, webinars conducted by Rutherfoord subject matter experts, and the opportunity to meet and interact with clients, and experts in risk management and insurance.

The 2011 interns include Spencer Frantz, Washington & Lee University; Devon Heath, Virginia Wesleyan College; Mary Cate McCue, University of Georgia; David Morgan, Appalachian State University; Jay Morgan, Sewanee, The University of the South; and Wes Nelson, University of Georgia.

“Rutherfoord has hosted interns since 2005,” said Pam Evans, vice president of human resources, who oversees the program.  “College advisors and professors regularly site the merits of our program, due largely to the depth of our curriculum."
